Service Projects|
The International Association of Lions Clubs is a service organisation and our motto is We Serve. The types of service undertaken vary enormously from club to club and, as well as practical 'hands on' service, include raising money which is then distributed among deserving causes, mainly in the local community.
Some service projects involve more than just one or two local clubs. Listed below are links to examples of the service activities that are District-wide and which are co-ordinated at District level.

As responsible members of our society and communities, Lions Clubs realise the need for them to play their part in helping make the environment safer, to minimise waste, undertake sensible recycling schemes, help educate, and generally do what we can to help ensure our descendants have a future that is worth living.

As far back as 1925, Helen Keller, a celebrated blind American, called upon Lions to be 'Knights of the Blind'. Ever since then, Lions Clubs have taken a leading role in helping the blind and in eliminating avoidable or curable blindness. The plight of the deaf also receives considerable attention.

Lions Clubs are well known for their caring attitude to their local communities. What is less well known is the international aspect of Lions' service activities.

It is, of course, a truism that the youth of today is the leadership of tomorrow, but the fact that it is a truism is no reason for Lions Clubs to ignore the younger members of our community. Indeed, our concern for the future is such that we place special emphasis on the development of the younger generation.
